FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where are you based, and what areas do you serve?

We are based in Alexandria, VA, but we also provide services in Arlington, Springfield, Falls Church, and certain parts of D.C. on a case-by-case basis. Additional rates may apply for sittings that are over 10 miles from zip code 22307.

Daily walking is currently only offered in Alexandria and Arlington.

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, and yes!
Where does my overnight sitting take place?
We are proud to offer both a house sitting option and a safe-boarding option for overnights. House sitting is where one of our team members comes to stay in your home with your pet(s), and safe-boarding is when your pet stays in our home! No matter what, your pet(s) will be in a home environment as opposed to a facility. At this time, cat boarding is not available. Cat sittings will always take place in the client’s home.
I think I’d like my dog to stay at a sitter’s house. Can you tell me more about the safe-boarding option?
Sure thing! What separates us from many other pet sitting companies is not only that we do all sittings in a home environment, but that even for our boarding option, we have a 3 dog limit, and will always notify you ahead of time if there will be another dog staying with us. All safe-boarding is done in Katie’s home in Belle Haven, unless otherwise specified. The only requirement for pups staying with Katie is that they must be friendly towards small dogs, as Katie has a 7lb yorkie. A little more about Katie’s home: She lives in a duplex with a fenced in backyard and lots of trails nearby for gorgeous walks in Belle Haven, Alexandria. It’s basically doggie heaven.
I’m going on vacation and can’t decide between safe boarding or house sitting. Can you help me figure out the best plan for my pup?
Absolutely! We are happy to jump on a phone call to determine what the best fit for your pup would be. We can also discuss options at our meet and greet, but if we figure out what works best ahead of time, we can plan the meet and greet around where the dog will be staying! (i.e. if you opt for safe boarding, the meet and greet can take place in the sitter’s home rather than yours so your dog can get acquainted with not only the sitter, but their house as well)!
How should I communicate with my sitter when they’re with my pets?
All communication during your sitting is done via standard text message group chat with Katie and your sitter.
Will I be able to receive updates and pictures while I’m out of town?
YES! We love sending photos and updates, and even videos too! Before your sitting, we will chat with you about your preference for how often you’d like to receive updates.
How far in advance do you recommend booking my sitting?
Because we are a smaller company, sittings are all first come, first served. With that being said, we recommend booking as far out as possible, especially for overnight sittings or drop-in visits longer than 2 hours. As soon as you know you’ll be booking a trip, let us know. We can even pencil you in as tentative if you’re still in the planning stages of a trip but haven’t made definite arrangements. Just as a tip—holidays tend to book up fast. We’ve even had clients plan a year in advance for Christmas sittings and 4th of July!
Are there any discounts or promotions available?
Our “Re-FUR-al program” gives you $25 towards your next sitting for every new client you send us who books $100 worth of services or more!
How much do meet and greets cost?
Initial meet and greets cost nothing! If you have a pet who might need more than one meeting to feel comfortable, additional meet and greets will be charged as a drop-in visit (starting at $25).
Do you care for pets who aren’t dogs or cats?
Yes! We provide care for birds, fish, and bunnies as well! If you have a different type of pet that isn’t listed, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate them. Unfortunately, we do not offer care for horses or livestock.
